Ultrasonic cavitation effective method destruction of biofilms bacteria
UAW is a modern technology for wound treatment and debridement. Due to the targeted use of physical effects, debridement is a very effective yet safe method for healthy tissue. The method is also attractive because it is well suited for treating hard-to-reach wound surfaces. If fibrin and biofilm deposits are constantly forming on chronic wounds, they can be regularly and completely removed with UAW as part of periodic wound debridement. The ability to thoroughly exfoliate biofilms makes the method very attractive for use in septic surgery, for example, for the treatment of infected wounds or preparation for transplantation of split skin flaps.
The UAW's convincing advantages:
- fast and convenient use
- Effective removal of biofilms and deposits
- preservation of healthy tissue
- Can be used by doctors and junior staff
- cost-effectiveness, reusability of tools
Ultrasonic wound debridement (UAW) uses cavitation effects to selectively target the wound. The required irrigation solution is delivered directly through the ultrasonic UAW tool. As a result, cavitational effects are created under the sonotrode of the instrument. These effects ensure the removal of deposits, foreign particles and biofilm structures. Healthy tissue is not affected by the cavitation effects and is therefore not dangerous. This makes it possible to treat the wound thoroughly without damaging healthy structures. This is especially important when it is necessary to remove biofilms without any further delay, during primary debridement and secondary re-surgical treatment of the wound.
